Sempra Secures 20-Year LNG Deal with Petrobras

Sempra Infrastructure's unit has secured a significant long-term deal with Petrobras, one of the largest energy companies in South America. The agreement commits Petrobras to purchasing roughly 0.8 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year from Sempra for a period of 20 years.

This contract is notable as it marks the first time a South American company has committed to buying LNG from Sempra's portfolio. The deal provides a long-term demand anchor for Sempra's export facilities and supports the company's goal of delivering annual earnings growth in the range of 7% to 9%.

Sempra has been showing solid earnings momentum, with GAAP earnings reaching $1.21 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2026, a 70.4% increase from the same period in the previous year. Adjusted earnings also increased by 30.3% to $1.16 per share.

The company's market capitalization stands at approximately $53.16 billion as of September 19, 2026, and its forward price-to-earnings ratio is around 14.58, which Yahoo Finance considers a modest multiple relative to the company's targeted earnings growth range.
