Sempra Stock Falls Despite New 20-Year Petrobras LNG Deal
On September 15, 2026, Sempra Energy's stock (SRE) closed at $81.59 on the New York Stock Exchange, down 1.69% from the previous day's close of $82.99.
The decline came after Sempra Infrastructure announced a new 20-year sales and purchase agreement with Petrobras to supply approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas sourced from its contracted liquefaction capacity at the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project in Texas.
The deal adds another long-duration contract to Sempra Infrastructure's portfolio, broadening its customer base into South America and increasing the facility's total capacity to around 26 million tonnes per annum across both phases.
Despite the recent decline, analysts are broadly constructive on Sempra stock, with about 80% of ratings in the buy category and a consensus price target of $98.29, implying upside of roughly 21% from the current trading level.
