Sempra Stocks Rise on Long-Term LNG Deal with Petrobras
Sempra's stock price has seen a boost after the company announced a long-term LNG supply agreement with Petrobras on September 14, 2026. The deal is set to last for 20 years and will see Sempra supplying approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas from its US export facilities.
The contract adds visible volume underpinning for Sempra's LNG strategy and extends revenue visibility well into the 2040s, strengthening the case for long-lived cash flows from its infrastructure assets. With a market capitalization of around $60 billion, investors are pricing in the scale of Sempra's regulated utilities and infrastructure portfolio.
Despite recent market volatility, with US benchmarks pressured by higher policy rates and bond yields, utilities like Sempra are being evaluated for their defensive characteristics and dividend stability relative to broader equity markets. As of September 16, 2026, Sempra's stock closed at $81.20 on the NYSE, remaining within its established 52-week trading band.
