Senate Advances US Farm Bill with Progress on Grain Standards and FEED Act
The US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry has made progress on the Agricultural Act, also known as the farm bill. The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) praised the committee's action, saying it brings certainty to American farmers and agricultural enterprises.
According to Mike Seyfert, NGFA president and CEO, renewing the US Grain Standards Act would secure lasting predictability for the federal system of inspection and weighing that sustains trust in US grain markets. The Innovative FEED Act would update how new feed ingredients are approved and foster ongoing innovation throughout the animal food sector.
Jed Bower, an Ohio farmer and president of the National Corn Growers Association, stated that the Senate farm bill would broaden year-round consumer access to E15, a matter he considers vital for farmers and the rural economy. He noted that more remains to be done, as the 2026 corn crop is the costliest ever planted, cultivated, and currently being harvested.
