Sensex Jumps 300 Points Amid US-China Talks Volatility
Global markets remained volatile as investors awaited the outcome of US-China talks. The BSE Sensex surged by 300 points to open at 74,600, while the Nifty50 opened flat at 23,300. This cautious start was expected due to uncertainty surrounding the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The GIFT Nifty pointed towards a subdued opening for Indian markets, with futures quoted at 23,344, down 35 points. However, Asian markets rose on reports of constructive discussions between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.
US-China relations remain a major concern for investors, with the two sides agreeing to establish discussions on artificial intelligence (AI). The Nikkei 225 in Japan advanced by 1.38%, while South Korea's Kospi gained 1.32%. Crude oil prices declined more than 1% as traders anticipated a recovery in shipments from Saudi Arabia.
