Sensex Jumps 776 Points on Crude Oil Price Plunge
The Indian stock market snapped its five-day losing streak on July 27, 2026, as the benchmark Sensex surged by 776.01 points, or 1.02%, to settle at 76,835.78. This rise came after a sharp decline in crude oil prices amid easing tensions in West Asia.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 841.74 points, or 1.10%, to 76,901.51 during the day before settling back down. The 50-share NSE Nifty surged 228.50 points, or 0.96%, to end at 23,995.95.
Eternal was the top gainer among Sensex firms, rising by 5.70%. Other gainers included InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, and Mahindra & Mahindra. HDFC Bank, Power Grid, and Axis Bank were among the laggards.
Crude oil prices plummeted by 9.40% to $87.64 per barrel, easing concerns over rising import costs and inflation. This sharp correction in crude oil prices, along with a decline in long-term bond yields, raised hopes of a durable resolution, supported by signs of long unwinding.
