Sensex Jumps 842 Points as Oil Prices Plummet Amid Geopolitical Easing
Indian stock markets surged on Monday as Brent crude prices plummeted nearly 7% following easing geopolitical tensions.
The drop in oil prices triggered a rally, pushing the Sensex up by 842 points to reach an intraday high of 76,901 and sending the Nifty 50 above the 24,000 level.
This added approximately ₹5 trillion to total market capitalization.
The rally was primarily driven by the cooling in Brent crude oil prices, which dropped to around $90 per barrel after military tensions in West Asia showed signs of de-escalation.
