Serbia Fuel Prices Hit Historic High Amid Global Pressures
For the second week in a row, fuel prices in Serbia have remained unchanged. A liter of Eurodiesel costs 236 dinars, while BMB 95 gasoline is priced at 207 dinars. This stability comes despite global pressures driving up oil prices, with Brent crude above $100 a barrel due to the conflict in the Middle East.
The current price marks a historic high for Serbia, surpassing the 218-dinar mark seen in July 2022. The gap between diesel and gasoline prices has grown since then, with diesel now 18 dinars more expensive than it was at that time.
According to Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, the caretaker government's decision to release 5,000 tons of diesel from mandatory reserves and extend a temporary ban on exporting crude oil and oil derivatives through September 30 have contributed to the high prices.
The ministry reminds citizens that any irregularities in applying the decree can be reported, with prices set to remain at current levels until October 2, when a new round will be announced.
