Shale Revolution Saves US Consumers $3.7 Trillion
The US has been a major gas importer for decades, but thanks to the shale revolution, it's now the world's largest gas exporter. This shift in geopolitics is largely due to the discovery of abundant natural gas reserves in formations such as the Permian, Haynesville, Marcellus, and Utica.
Despite predictions that natural gas supplies would decline, US domestic production has more than doubled since 2007. This increase has led to a significant reduction in energy costs for American consumers, with estimates suggesting they have saved around $3.7 trillion since 2007.
This translates to approximately $571 per year for every citizen, making the shale revolution a major boon for the US economy. The increased availability of natural gas has also led to the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, with countries like France and Egypt relying heavily on US LNG to fuel their economies.
