Sharjah Invests in AED18.838 Million Natural Gas Expansion Projects
The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority is investing in four major initiatives to expand and upgrade its natural gas infrastructure across the Central Region.
The combined cost of these projects exceeds AED18.838 million ($5.13 million), with the aim of satisfying the increasing demands of local residents and enhancing service standards throughout residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
According to Engineer Ibrahim Al Balghouni, head of the Natural Gas Department at the authority, the Central Region expansion plan includes the second stage of the primary Al Bataeh gas pipeline extension. This 27-kilometre undertaking has progressed to 70% completion and is expected to be finalized in November 2026.
Additionally, the authority will commence work on developing the gas network in Al Dhaid's Al Sweih district at a cost of AED2.7 million, spanning 27 kilometres and projected for completion by the end of July 2027.
