Shell, NGC Seal Deal on Aphrodite Gas Project
The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) has finalized commercial agreements with Shell Trinidad and Tobago for the Aphrodite offshore gas project. The agreements were finalized in early September, just a year after Shell put the project on hold due to disagreements over commercial terms.
According to NGC's Acting President Edmund Subryan, the execution of these agreements will significantly increase NGC's ability to supply downstream customers, power producers, and light industrial customers with natural gas. The company's pipeline and gas infrastructure will be used to bring gas from Aphrodite to market.
The project is expected to have a peak production of 18,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day, with first gas expected by the second quarter of 2027. NGC did not disclose the financial terms of the agreements or the project's expected production volumes.
