Silver Edges Up Ahead of Fed Meeting, but Still Below Key Threshold
The silver market has seen a slight increase ahead of the Federal Reserve's meeting in 2026, with September futures opening at $58.74 per ounce, up 0.1% from Monday's close.
However, prices quickly fell to $57.55 by early morning trading, within a narrow range that has kept silver below $61 since July 7.
This price movement reflects declines in both industrial and investor demand, which are two primary drivers of silver's value.
Despite this, silver opened 4.3% higher than last week and 54.1% above the price a year ago ahead of the key Federal Reserve meeting.
