Silver Outshines Gold Amid High Beta and Supply Deficit
The price of silver saw significant growth in August, outperforming gold's increase by a margin of 6.92%.
This uptick in silver prices can be attributed to several factors, including high beta and beneficial price volatility, as noted by Sprott Asset Management.
Sprott's managing partner and market strategist, Paul Wong, CFA, and director, research & investment strategy, Zenny Zhu, CFA, highlighted that investors may view silver's higher price volatility as a drawback. However, in certain environments, this characteristic can become an advantage.
A prime example of this is the rally from October 25, 2025, to January 28, 2026, during which spot silver surged from $46.85 to $116.70, outperforming gold handily.
