Silver prices have surged to historic highs, bringing renewed attention to the Temiskaming area in northeastern Ontario, where modern Canadian hard-rock mining was born.

Kuya Silver and Brixton Metals are exploring old mine waste rock dumped on the surface from turn-of-the-last-century mining in the Cobalt silver mining district. Kuya's Silver Kings project has shown 'significant' silver mineralization in early sampling results, with up to 168 grams per tonne of silver found in crushed material.

The company plans to continue sampling and metallurgical work on its 13,000-hectare property before coming out with a resource estimate. Brixton Metals is also exploring the historic Langis mine, which produced 10.4 million ounces of high-grade silver between 1908 and 1989.

Brixton's chairman-CEO Gary Thompson said that the company sees an opportunity for near-term cash flow potential from material already sitting at surface with power and road access.
