Silver Prices Bounce as Pipeline Restoration Eases Rate Hike Fears
The silver price on September 17, 2026, closed at $64.40 per troy ounce, up $0.81 or 1.27 percent from the prior session's close of $63.59.
This gain follows a partial restoration of Saudi Arabia's East-West crude pipeline, which had been damaged in drone strikes earlier in the week and contributed to energy-inflation concerns that fueled expectations of another Federal Reserve interest rate hike above 3.75 to 4.00 percent.
The Fed did raise rates on Tuesday, but the pipeline recovery reduced the forward probability of a second hike implied by Chairman Kevin Warsh's updated dot plot, which projects a median 2026 inflation rate of 4.1 percent.
