Silver Prices Ease to $68 as Markets Await Fed and Inflation Cues
Silver prices have retreated to around $68 an ounce after their recent rally stalled, leaving investors wondering about the metal's short-term prospects. This drop comes as markets await key economic data and the Federal Reserve's cues on inflation.
The persistent supply deficit in silver remains a structural support for the metal, but JPMorgan's latest forecast suggests that higher interest rates and easing physical tightness could limit its rebound. The bank predicts that silver will reach $63 an ounce by the fourth quarter of 2026 and average around $70 for the full year.
The Silver Institute's World Silver Survey 2026 estimated a market deficit of 40.3 million ounces, marking a fifth consecutive annual shortfall. Despite this, the medium-term outlook is becoming increasingly complicated due to softer industrial demand in some markets and higher global interest rates.
