Silver futures prices took a hit on Monday as participants reduced their bets, causing the price to drop by Rs 2,024 to Rs 2.39 lakh per kilogram in futures trade.

The price for December delivery fell to Rs 2,39,579 per kilogram on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) due to a sell-off by participants.

Analysts cited this as the main reason for the decline in silver prices, which also saw a 0.20% drop globally at USD $66.12 per ounce in New York.
