Silver Prices Spark Exploration of Old Mine Waste Rock in Ontario
Silver prices have surged to historic highs, putting the Temiskaming area in northeastern Ontario back in vogue for exploratory purposes.
Kuya Silver is claiming that there's 'hidden value' in mine waste rock dumped on the surface from turn-of-the-last-century mining in the Cobalt silver mining district.
The company is sorting through blasted coarse rock and finer mill-crushed tailings to determine if there's enough high-grade minerals worth recovering at its Silver Kings project.
Early results from a sampling program are showing 'significant' silver mineralization on their 13,000-hectare property, with the highest grades of up to 168 grams per tonne silver and 0.365 per cent cobalt in crushed material at the former Kerr Lake mill.
