Silver prices in India have risen significantly on August 20, 2026. The national rate reported by GoodReturns increased from ₹2,45,000 per kg on August 19 to ₹2,55,000 per kg on August 20, marking a daily increase of ₹10,000 per kilogram. This move has kept silver firmly above the ₹2.50 lakh mark in several major cities.

According to GoodReturns' data, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kerala were among the markets with the highest quoted rates at ₹2.60 lakh per kg. The latest price also shows how quickly silver has appreciated during August, with an increase of about 8.5% since the beginning of the month.

Silver prices are influenced by both investment demand and industrial consumption, making its price movement different from that of purely investment-oriented assets. Global market conditions, including international silver prices, movements in the US dollar, and changes in expectations around interest rates, can all affect the domestic Indian rate.
