Silver Stuck Between Bull Narrative and Industrial Headwinds
Silver's price has been relatively stable at around $67 per ounce in recent trading sessions, but beneath this calm surface lies a market in turmoil. The white metal is caught between its long-term bull narrative and a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
The Solar Institute projects that the global supply deficit will widen to 46 million ounces in 2026, up from 40 million the previous year. However, a closer look at the demand side reveals a complicating factor: the solar industry's demand for silver is expected to contract by approximately 19 percent in 2026 due to technological substitution.
The regulatory environment has also become increasingly interventionist, with governments tightening their grip on global supply chains. China and the United States have expanded export licensing requirements and designated state-controlled trading companies as sole authorized exporters.
