Silver Surges Past Two-Month High as Treasury Yields Plummet
Silver prices have surged to a two-month high of $67.33 in Asian trading on Thursday, defying expectations from hawkish FOMC minutes.
The move comes as long-dated US Treasury Yields decline significantly following the Treasury Department's announcement to double the size of buybacks for long-dated securities.
This increase in demand has led to a decrease in interest rates, making non-yielding assets such as Silver more attractive to investors.
The FOMC minutes showed that many board members felt the need for interest rate hikes if inflation remains higher, which would have been negative for non-yielding assets like Silver.
