Silver Thrift Score: Woman's Frame Discovery Could Be Worth $150

Indiana resident Tatiana Brito's thrift store score was more than just a pretty frame - it was potentially worth $150. While browsing through the Goodwill in Gary, she found a beautiful frame that caught her eye. Initially, she didn't think much of it, but upon closer inspection, she discovered a sticker indicating the frame was made from pure .925 silver, free of lead and nickel, and manufactured in Greece.

The hallmark on the frame confirmed its sterling silver status, with a 925 stamp meaning it contained 92.5 percent pure silver. As the global silver price has surged over the past year, Brito's find is now highly valuable. Silver prices rose from around $40 per ounce in August 2025 to more than $67 per ounce by August 2026, driven by strong industrial demand and investor interest.

Brito paid less than a dollar for the frame but estimates its resale value to be around $150, making it one of her top three thrift store finds. She recommends browsing Goodwill bins for bargains that can be quickly flipped for a profit. The U.S. secondhand market was worth $56 billion in 2025, up 14.3 percent year over year, according to Capital One Shopping.
