Silver's Price Surge Sparks Hope for Junior Miners
The price of silver has been steadily increasing, driven by a persistent supply deficit in the market. According to The Silver Institute, the market experienced its fifth consecutive annual deficit in 2025, with demand outpacing supply by approximately 95 million ounces.
As a result, silver prices have risen to around US$63.49 per ounce as of September 24, 2026, creating opportunities for junior silver stocks to turn their projects into economic mines.
Honey Badger Silver (TUF.V) is one such company that has been making waves with its PC Silver Mine project in the Northwest Territories. The mine's Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) revealed a 22-year mine life, with average production of approximately 10.7 million silver-equivalent ounces annually.
At current silver prices, the mine is expected to generate an after-tax Net Present Value (NPV8) of C$1.2 billion and a 29% Internal Rate of Return (IRR). However, if silver prices were to reach US$66.41 per ounce, as they did on August 31, 2026, the NPV8 would increase to C$1.8 billion and the IRR would jump to 38%. This significant boost in economics makes the project very attractive.
Another junior silver stock that has garnered attention is Outcrop Silver (OCG.T) with its Santa Ana project in Colombia. The updated resource estimate shows a massive 57.8 million ounces of AgEq, with grades ranging from 197-855 g/t AgEq. While the scale and grade are impressive, there is still much to be proven, particularly when it comes to establishing economic viability through a feasibility study or PEA.
