Silver's Rebound May Be Short-Lived Amid Weaker Fundamentals
The precious metal market has seen a recent rebound in gold and silver prices. Spot gold rose by approximately 2.4% to USD 4,119.04 per ounce, while spot silver was quoted at USD 59.47 per ounce, up about 6.3% from USD 55.90 per ounce at the previous weekend.
However, analysts are cautioning that this rally may be short-lived. ING Groep commodity strategists Warren Patterson and Eva Mantai stated that the recent price increase was driven by 'bargain hunting after recent price weakness,' rather than any material shift in geopolitical or macroeconomic conditions.
Silver may outperform gold, according to Patterson and Mantai, as it benefits from improved sentiment across the industrial metals complex. They noted that silver's performance reflects not only its safe-haven attributes but also benefits from improved sentiment across the industrial metals complex.
