Sindh Approves $17 Million Medical Tower and Enhanced Wheat Support Package

The Sindh provincial cabinet has approved a $17 million medical tower at Karachi's National Institute of Child Health (NICH) as part of a public-private partnership with the Abdul Sattar Edhi Foundation. The Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi Medical Tower will have 445 beds and will be developed through a PPP, with the foundation contributing $10 million and the Sindh government providing a $7 million grant in aid.

The cabinet also approved an enhanced Rs. 16 billion support package for wheat growers owning up to 25 acres. Eligible farmers will receive a flat subsidy for DAP fertiliser or an approved alternative, while growers supplying wheat to the Food Department will receive an additional incentive of Rs. 2,000 per maund.

The Digitalisation and e-Transfer of Title System was also approved for three pilot dehs: Matiari and Palijani in Matiari district and Deh Bagerji in Sukkur district. The system is designed to provide a digital, one-window mechanism for property transfers, integrated with the FBR, NADRA and Sindh's e-Stamping system.
