Sindh Cabinet Approves $17m Medical Tower and Wheat Support Package
The Sindh cabinet has approved a $17 million project to build a 13-story medical tower at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), in collaboration with the Edhi Foundation.
Under the public-private partnership, the Edhi Foundation will contribute $10 million and the provincial government will provide a $7 million grant-in-aid to be released over two years, from 2026-27 to 2027-28.
The cabinet also approved an enhanced support package of around Rs16 billion for wheat growers with landholdings up to 25 acres. Eligible growers will receive a flat subsidy for the purchase of DAP fertiliser or an approved substitute, while those supplying wheat to the Food Department will get an additional subsidy increased from Rs1,000 to Rs2,000 per maund.
The cabinet also decided to launch a blockchain-based land transfer system in three pilot dehs, with plans to digitize manual records and provide a secure, faceless mechanism for electronic transfer of land titles.
