Sindh Government Doubles Wheat Procurement Subsidy to Rs2,000 per Maund
The Sindh government has doubled its wheat procurement subsidy to Rs2,000 per maund as part of a revised support package valued at around Rs16 billion. The package aims to benefit approximately 550,000 farmers across the province with landholdings of up to 25 acres.
Under the enhanced mechanism, eligible growers will receive a flat subsidy for purchasing DAP fertiliser or an approved substitute. Those who supply wheat to the food department will also get an additional subsidy based on the quantity delivered.
The basic subsidy package is estimated to cost around Rs14.9 billion. With the procurement-linked incentive, the total allocation could rise to approximately Rs16 billion, subject to final verification and disbursement.
