Sindh Govt, Flour Mill Owners Agree on Affordable Flour Supply
The government of Sindh and flour mill owners have reached an agreement to ensure affordable flour supply across the province. Provincial Minister for Food Makhdoom Mehboob uz Zaman chaired a meeting with a delegation from the Flour Mills Association to discuss market prices, supply chain, and measures to maintain uninterrupted availability of flour.
The Minister stated that ensuring affordable flour is the government's top priority, and directed flour mill owners to keep prices at the lowest possible level. He informed the meeting that the Sindh Government has intensified operations against wheat hoarders and illegal profiteers, resulting in improved market stability.
The Food Department currently possesses 446,947 metric tonnes of wheat stocks, comprising 140,000 metric tonnes of carry-over stock, 81,812 metric tonnes procured during the current procurement season, and 225,135 metric tonnes recovered during anti-hoarding operations. The Minister assured that there is no restriction on inter-district movement of wheat within Sindh.
