Sioux Falls' POET Powers First US Ship with 100% Bioethanol
Sioux Falls-based POET has become the first company to supply a U.S. ship with 100% bioethanol, marking a significant milestone in the industry's push towards cleaner fuels.
The successful demonstration took place on September 28th in Houston, Texas, and involved a partnership between POET, shipping giant Maersk, and several other entities.
This project highlights the potential for U.S.-made bioethanol to become a major player in the global shipping industry's efforts to reduce emissions.
The operation was led by A.P. Moller-Maersk, one of the world's largest maritime shipping companies, and involved the support of Kirby Corporation, which transported the fuel, and the Port of Houston.
This milestone could have significant implications for American farmers and biofuel producers like POET, as it creates a potential new market for corn-based ethanol.
