South Korean shipping companies SK Shipping and H-Line Shipping are set to swap vessels and long-term contracts, marking a significant shift in the industry.

The deal, announced by Hahn & Co., will see SK Shipping receive 16 LNG vessels and related long-term contracts from H-Line Shipping in exchange for 12 tankers, long-term contracts, and approximately $300 million in cash.

Following the transaction, SK Shipping will become Asia's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier operator, operating a total of 32 LNG carriers and 14 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vessels.

Hahn & Co. plans to rebrand the company as K-LNG, positioning it to benefit from growing LNG demand.
