Slovak Grain Stocks Plummet as Corn and Sunflowers Fall Sharply
Slovak farmers have seen a significant decline in their grain and oilseed stocks over the first half of 2026, according to UkrAgroConsult. The largest drop was recorded for corn, with stocks falling by 78%, down from 493 thousand tons at the beginning of the year to 107 thousand tons by June 30.
The majority of grain was sold to trading and processing companies, accounting for 88% of durum wheat stock use, 80% of corn, and 78% of common wheat. Among oilseeds, sunflower stocks fell from 25 thousand tons to just 3 thousand tons over the first half of the year, while soybean stocks dropped by 80%, from 37 thousand tons to 7 thousand tons.
Rapeseed was the only major crop surveyed to record an increase in stocks, reaching 41 thousand tons by the end of June, up 4% from the beginning of the year. This growth is supported by additions from farmers' own production.
