Sound Agriculture Unveils Inflect, a Biological Boost for Corn Growers
Sound Agriculture has developed a new seed-applied biological called Inflect to support corn growers who use anhydrous ammonia or manure as nitrogen sources. The product contains three microbial strains: two bacterial strains, Bacillus simplex and Bacillus subtilis, and an endophytic fungal strain identified as C. nivea.
Inflect was tested in 2025 trials at 12 locations in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri, where it delivered an average yield gain of six bushels per acre. Positive results were seen at 92% of the trial locations, with individual results ranging from a 1.1-bushel loss to a 14.9-bushel gain.
The company's vice president of agronomy, Jeff Divan, explained that high ammonium levels can harm soil microbial communities and lead to inconsistent root development and lower yields. Inflect is applied to seed as a powder and will be available for the 2027 growing season at $12 per acre.
