South African Ag Exports Soar to $4.1 Billion in Q2
South African agricultural exports rose by 10% in the second quarter of 2026 to reach a record $4.1 billion, thanks to increased volumes and prices.
This growth was largely driven by higher shipments to countries outside of the US, which saw a 56% increase compared to the first quarter due to declining tariff rates from 30% to 12.5%, according to Wandile Sihlobo, chief economist at the Agricultural Business Chamber of South Africa.
The citrus industry and diversification into other fruits and nuts have been key contributors to this growth over the past two decades, alongside increased corn shipments.
