South Carolina Gas Prices Skyrocket Amid Global Turmoil
Gas prices in South Carolina have risen sharply over the past week, pushing the average above $4 per gallon. According to GasBuddy's survey of 3,028 stations in the state, the average price of gas is now $4.03 per gallon, a 15.2 cent increase from last week.
This brings the current average to 39.4 cents higher than a month ago and $1.29 higher than a year ago. The cheapest station in South Carolina was priced at $3.59 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was recorded at $4.94 per gallon, a difference of $1.35.
The national average price of gas has also risen, increasing by 18.5 cents per gallon in the last week to an average of $4.44 per gallon Monday. This represents a 34.4 cent increase from a month ago and is $1.30 higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
Experts say that any additional change in gas prices will depend heavily on the development of the ongoing geopolitical issues. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, stated 'Any broader directional change will depend heavily on overseas developments, and with new Houthi attacks and fresh U.S.-Iran escalations, the outlook remains deeply uncertain.'
