South Central Natural Gas Storage Draws Down 19 Bcf Amid Heatwave Demand
The South Central natural gas storage region experienced a significant drawdown in supply during the week ended August 21, as strong demand outpaced availability. Operators drew heavily on stored gas to meet the surge in consumption driven by sweltering heat and recovering liquefied natural gas (LNG) activity.
The South Central region posted a 19 billion cubic feet (Bcf) draw during this period, bringing regional stocks down to 1,127 Bcf. This marked a significant decline from the same period last year, with storage levels now down by 5.9% compared to the prior year's deficit.
