South Korea Commits $200 Billion to US Energy Projects
South Korea has reached an agreement to invest $200 billion in various US energy projects. The deal, announced on October 1, includes investments in gas-fired and nuclear power plants as well as a natural gas pipeline project in Alaska.
The bilateral trade deal implements a strategic investment memorandum agreed upon last year. South Korea will invest in eight large nuclear power plants across different regions of the US, as well as a liquefied natural gas pipeline project in Alaska.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources' statement, the investments aim to provide a stable power supply for artificial intelligence and strategic industries. The deal also aims to strengthen critical supply chains and enhance both countries' energy security.
