South Korea Commits $200 Billion to US Energy Projects

US President Donald Trump has unveiled South Korea's investment plans in the US, which include building an LNG project in Alaska and eight nuclear reactors across various states.

The announcement follows protracted negotiations over energy investment projects under last year's bilateral trade agreement. Under this agreement, South Korea committed to investing $350 billion in the US, with $150 billion going towards the shipbuilding sector and the remainder for strategic investments.

According to Trump, South Korea will invest up to $200 billion to build a 6-gigawatt power generation facility in Texas. He also mentioned that eight new large-scale nuclear power plants will be built, with Lutnick stating that over $50 billion will be invested in the Alaska LNG project and $120 billion for the nuclear power plants.

The projects were highlighted by Trump as part of his economic achievements ahead of the November midterm elections. The investments are aimed at addressing public concerns over high energy prices and deepened economic uncertainties due to the ongoing war with Iran.
