South Korea Invests $200 Billion in US Energy Projects
South Korea has agreed to invest $200 billion in US energy projects, as part of a bilateral trade deal and strategic investment memorandum. The agreement includes investments in gas-fired power plants, nuclear power plants, and a liquefied natural gas pipeline project in Alaska.
The investments aim to provide a stable power supply for artificial intelligence and strategic industries, strengthen critical supply chains, and enhance both countries' energy, economic, and national security.
South Korea plans to invest in a natural gas-fired power plant in Texas, eight large nuclear power plants in various regions, and the Alaska pipeline project. The agreement was announced on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
