South Korea Invests $54 Billion in Alaskan LNG Project
US President Donald Trump announced a significant investment in Alaska's energy sector. South Korea plans to invest $54 billion in a liquefied natural gas project that will construct an 800-mile pipeline carrying natural gas from Alaska's North Slope to the southern part of the state for export to Asian markets.
The project is expected to be completed within three years, which Trump believes will help reduce gasoline prices in Alaska. When asked about constructing another oil refinery in the state to lower energy costs, Trump said that 'gasoline prices in Alaska are going to tumble well as soon as the war ends, which is going to be soon.' He also mentioned that prices will come down due to this project and a couple of others.
Trump plans to travel to Alaska in the weeks leading up to the midterms to support Republican Senator Dan Sullivan's re-election campaign against Democratic candidate Mary Peltola. Trump believes that if Alaskans knew 'the real facts,' there wouldn't even be a close race.
