Southeast Natural Gas Prices Hit Winter Peaks Amid Record Demand
Southeast natural gas prices have surged to levels typically seen only during winter months as late-season heat waves drive record September power demand and put a squeeze on pipelines already operating at near capacity.
The Transco Zone 4 premium has topped 150%, while the Florida Gas Zone 3 premium set a new record. The Tennessee Valley Authority's demand ran 29% above average, putting further pressure on the region's natural gas supply.
