Southeast Natural Gas Prices Spike Past $7 Amid Heat Dome and Recovering LNG Exports
Natural gas prices in the Southeast region of the United States have surged past $7 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) as a heat dome and recovering LNG exports contribute to increased air conditioning demand.
The rise in natural gas prices comes as physical natural gas prices across the Gulf Coast and Southeast are under pressure from entrenched heat and recovering LNG exports, which have led to bid up hubs from Louisiana to Florida.
Hubs in this region are leading gains, with El Paso S. Mainline unwinding its previous spike. Meanwhile, a tropical disturbance is nearing the Texas coast, potentially impacting natural gas prices further.
