Southern India's Silver Premium Soars to ₹15,000
The silver price in India has continued to diverge between different cities, with Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kerala charging ₹15,000 more per kilogram than Delhi. This gap has tripled over the past six days, from ₹5,000 on August 18 to ₹15,000 on August 24.
The national silver rate in India remains unchanged at ₹2,60,000 per kilogram, while the international price of silver fell by 0.69% to $69.05 an ounce. The reason for the southern cities' higher prices is still unclear, but it is not due to a delay in updating their rates.
In contrast to the significant premium charged by southern cities, the gold price in India shows minimal variation between different locations, with Delhi priced ₹150 above the national average on ten grams and Ahmedabad ₹50 above.
