Soybean and Corn Futures Weaken on Improved Midwestern Weather
Soybean futures at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) fell on Wednesday due to improved Midwestern weather forecasts, which indicated rain and moderate temperatures over the next week. This eased concerns over hot temperatures that had driven up values recently, causing traders to take some risk premiums out of the market.
The soybeans are in their pod-setting stage of development, making them particularly vulnerable to precipitation. However, gains in crude oil provided some support to temper the declines in soybean futures.
Corn futures were also affected by the weather outlook. Meanwhile, wheat futures were mixed as traders monitored developments in the Black Sea.
