Soybeans and Wheat Prices Rise on U.S. Export Data
Soybean prices on the Chicago Board of Trade rose on Monday, recovering from three consecutive negative sessions. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported a significant increase in soybean exports last week, totaling 1.14 million tonnes, up 45.3% from the previous week. However, this figure was still 1.5% lower than the same week last year. The marketing year total for soybean exports stands at 3.99 million tonnes, a 30.9% increase from the previous year. Additionally, the USDA announced a private sale of 104,000 tonnes of soybeans to an undisclosed destination.
Meanwhile, wheat prices also posted gains, with December Minneapolis spring wheat surpassing the $7 per bushel mark. U.S. wheat exports last week amounted to 302,356 tonnes, a 10.3% decrease from the previous week and a 49% drop from the same week last year. The marketing year total for wheat exports is 6.67 million tonnes, 35% less than last year. A Saudi Arabian tender for 683,000 tonnes of wheat was successfully filled overnight.
Corn prices remained relatively steady on Monday. U.S. corn exports last week totaled 1.37 million tonnes, a 19.6% decline from the previous week but a 13.5% increase from the year before. Marketing year exports for corn are at 7.11 million tonnes, up 4.4% from last year. The USDA reported a private export sale of 129,540 tonnes of corn to Mexico for 2026-27 delivery. AgRural estimated that 38% of Brazil’s corn crop has been planted, slightly behind the 40% planted at this time last year.
