Spain's Olive Oil Production Sees Significant Increase Ahead of 2026/2027 Campaign
The olive oil production in Spain for the 2026/2027 campaign is expected to be at a medium-high level, with 1,602,596 tons, which represents a 23 percent increase compared to the previous harvest.
Extremadura will be the third producer of olive oil, with 97,300 tons, marking an increase of 24 percent. The region's production is expected to make up about 6 percent of the national total.
The Ministry of Agriculture plans to decide on a marketing regulation for the temporary withdrawal of olive oil in the first half of November, following the application of Article 167 bis of the Common Market Organization (CMO).
Minister Luis Planas called for 'rigor' and 'prudence' before implementing this tool, which aims to promote greater stability in prices. He emphasized that this is an 'extraordinary measure' that has never been applied until now.
