Stocks Hold Near Record High Amid Eased Oil Prices
The U.S. stock market held steady near its record high on Tuesday, despite oil prices easing slightly.
The S&P 500 index edged down by less than 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 185 points or 0.4%.
Brent crude oil briefly fell below $98 per barrel in the morning, but later trimmed its losses and settled at $99.25, down 1.1% from last week's nearly $110 price.
AutoZone rose 3.3% after reporting a stronger profit than analysts expected, while Thor Industries' stock climbed 5.5%, despite CEO Bob Martin citing expensive fuel, high interest rates, and inflation as challenges for the company's customers.
