Strait of Hormuz Tanker Attacks Escalate Tensions Between US and Iran
A flurry of incidents in the Strait of Hormuz has triggered renewed anxiety in oil markets. On Monday, two tankers hauling Saudi crude were attacked, prompting a response from the US Central Command.
US forces launched strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positions inside Iran, citing recent IRGC attempts to attack commercial shipping in the strait and US personnel deployed in the area.
The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) reported an attack on a Sinokor-operated tanker, the Senegal Prosperity. However, an incident involving a Bahri-managed Saudi tanker appears to have been omitted from these reports.
