Strong Trading Relationships Key to Corn Farmer Profitability
Corn farmer Casey Kelleher from Jefferson County in Wisconsin emphasizes that maintaining strong relationships with trading partners is crucial for farmer profitability.
Kelleher, who serves as the president of the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board, highlights the efforts of the U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council to expand overseas markets as a prime example.
'It's unbelievable the places they're getting corn and corn byproducts,' Kelleher says, referring to the Council's work in expanding market access.
He shares that he has hosted trade teams from various countries, including Southeast Asia, Asia, Mexico, and South America, and notes how these relationships can be built on a foundation of mutual trust and understanding, not just price considerations.
