Studded Gold Boosts India's Jewellery Exports Amid Challenging Global Environment
India's gem and jewellery exports have shown resilience in the face of a challenging global environment. According to data released by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), gross exports rose 13.58% to ₹87,078.01 crore during April to July 2026, totaling $9.17 billion. This growth was led by studded gold jewellery, whose exports jumped 21.09% to $2.24 billion from $1.85 billion a year earlier.
Silver jewellery also saw significant gains, with exports surging 72.19% to $508.18 million. In contrast, cut and polished diamond exports declined 8% to $3.60 billion in April to July, compared with $3.91 billion in the year ago period.
Kirit Bhansali, chairman of GJEPC, noted that despite a challenging global environment, India's gem and jewellery exports have shown encouraging resilience, with value-added segments leading the way. He added that easing gold prices are expected to support demand in key consuming markets.
