Summit LNG Terminal Resumes Supply After Brief Shutdown

The Summit LNG terminal in Bangladesh has resumed supplying regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) to the national grid after being idle since yesterday afternoon.

According to a statement from Summit, the terminal began supplying around 110 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) at 6:10pm, with supply expected to gradually rise to around 550 mmcfd by 2am on Saturday.

The shutdown was caused by issues connecting an LNG cargo to the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), but a new cargo has now been successfully loaded onto the terminal, allowing it to restart operations.

Bangladesh's LNG supply to the national grid had fallen sharply to around 300 mmcfd today, exacerbating gas shortages for households, industries, and transport. The additional supply from Summit is expected to ease these shortages affecting industries, power plants, and other consumers.
